Philadelphia 76ers top five players of the month: Top heavy performances
No. 4
Robert Covington‘s defensive consistency was evident during October. There was only one game where he didn’t record a single steal and every game he had at least one block. While his offense wasn’t always as consistent as his defense, but it was still overall solid.
In eight games, he averaged 35.0 minutes,13.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.8 blocks, 2.0 steals, 3.1 fouls, and 1.8 turnovers, while making 42.4 percent of his shots from the floor, 42.9 percent on shots from downtown and 70.6 percent on shots from the charity stripe.
The two-play player’s best game came in a Sixers win against the Charlotte Hornets. He was key defensively for Philadelphia where he finished the game with 18 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, two steals, four fouls and one turnover, while converting 6-11 from the field, 4-7 on 3-pointers and 2-5 at the free throw line. The four blocks is a high for the month of October and it was one away from his career high of five blocks.
Covington should continue to be solid defensively for the Philadelphia 76ers moving forward. It’s his offensive consistency where he needs to improve upon. He needs to attack the rim more often, which should, in turn, help him get more open looks on 3-point attempts.
