Jimmy Butler — His shot creation

After striking out in free agency, the Sixers found a third star via trade. Jimmy Butler gives the Sixers another top-15 player next to Embiid, as well as someone who solves their most pressing issue on the offensive end. Through five games, his value is on full display.

The Sixers are still incorporating Butler into the offense, but he’s already impacting the Sixers’ success late in games. Not only does he provide stellar defense on the opposition’s best player, but his ability create off the dribble is something the Sixers didn’t previously have.

While Embiid can generate looks in the post, the Sixers needed more against Boston in the playoffs. Someone who could score at all three levels, run the pick-and-roll, and generate dribble penetration — all of which are boxes Butler checks.

He isn’t the perfect fit — some would prefer a better shooter — but Butler can still space the floor and play off-ball. We’ve already seem him hit game-winning and game-sealing shots in close contests. Fans will continue to appreciate his presence.
