After working his way into the first-round discussion as a freshman, P.J. Washington is establishing his NBA prospects as a sophomore. He’s already embracing a bigger role, averaging 13.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game with early success from three-point range.
Standing 6-foot-7 with long arms and a strong frame, Washington’s defensive versatility should entice NBA teams. The Blazers already have decent forward depth, but Washington adds another multi-positional defender to the frontcourt mix.
If Washington can continue hitting threes, his stock won’t drop any lower than the early 20s. He’s a focal point, on both ends, for a talented Kentucky group. The Wildcats will always face stiff competition in the national spotlight, which plays to Washington’s advantage.
