An intriguing big man prospect, Jalen Smith could give the Warriors another young big to fill the void when DeMarcus Cousins leaves. Golden State doesn’t need another center, but Smith has arguably the highest ceiling left on the board. He could warrant a flier.
At 6-foot-10, adding strength will be paramount for Smith’s success as a versatile five-man at the next level. His three-pointer isn’t falling yet (14.3 percent), but it’s something he’s leaned on the past. Add in mobility and touch around the rim, and Smith generates plenty of intrigue.
He profiles well as a rim-runner and switch-friendly defender, something the Warriors need in the middle. He becomes especially valuable if Kevon Looney joins the aforementioned Cousins in departing over the summer.
