There are positives for each of the Philadelphia 76ers rookies in this week’s report, whether it’s big games or positive news regarding injuries.

As the Philadelphia 76ers continue to gel with it’s new superstar Jimmy Butler, there’s been good news for the club in regards to their rookies. Two rookies have solid production and big games for the Sixers or Delaware Blue Coats respectively, whereas the other two are positive injury updates.

Recently, it was reported that Zhaire Smith will join the Blue Coats as a part of his rehabilitation process. It was also reported that Smith had been doing some running and shooting. These are great positive steps for the injured rookie and having a plan of action is also good. My only concern has been the lack of a timeline for his stint in Delaware, but overall this is good news for Sixers fans.

After having a career high of 15 points against the New Orleans Pelicans in last week’s rookie report, Landry Shamet had another career scoring night against the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 16 points and shot 100 percent on four 3-point attempts. Shamet scored in double-digits in two out of the three games this past week and had a pretty solid week shooting as well.

More from The Sixer Sense

Earlier this month, Jonah Bolden had went down with a leg injury in a G-League game. Up to this point, there’s been no official update of Bolden’s status. However, Noah Levick of NBCSPhilly noted that while the big man didn’t practice with the Sixers on Nov. 29th, Bolden did shoot free throws after practice.

Him shooting could mean nothing or it could show signs of progress from the injury. It’s hard to know for sure. Due to the injury, Bolden hasn’t played in the NBA or G-League, so those stats haven’t changed since the last rookie report.

54th pick, 2018

Like Shamet, Shake Milton had a big scoring week as well, with the exception that it happened with the Blue Coats and not the 76ers. Even though Milton only appeared in one of the three games Delaware played in this past week, one game was all that was needed for him to go off.

The one game he did play in he scored 32 points against the Wisconsin Herd, one point below his G-League career high of 33 points he had versus the Raptors 905. Having two 30-plus point games in the same month is impressive for any rookie, regardless if it’s in the G-League or NBA.

This was a positive week for the rookies on the Philadelphia 76ers overall. The rookies that were able to play, played extremely well, whereas the injured ones had positive updates regarding their recovery. The team’s rookies were able to end the month of November on a high note, which should encourage the 76ers front office.
