Ja Morant might single-handedly make Murray State (!) a must-watch basketball team. Once an unheralded recruit with minimal D1 opportunities, Morant now looks like a potential lottery pick in his second season, averaging 27.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 8.4 assists through five games.

Even against high-level opponents, Morant is generally the best athlete on the court. His thin frame generates some concern, but he boasts an explosive first step and blinding end-to-end speed. He’s the rare NBA athlete playing for a mid-major school.

Turnovers are an issue, but that can partially be chalked up to usage. Morant continues to slash his way to success, leveraging his athleticism and finishing in traffic around the rim. He’s not an elite shooter, but 33.3 percent on 5.4 three-point attempts per game is an improvement over last season.
