Kevin Porter Jr. isn’t Trae Young, but he’s following a similar trajectory. Without the historic production, Porter has quickly established himself as a top-10 prospect on most draft boards. The freshman has three starts in six games, showcasing elite scoring upside in the process.

Standing 6-foot-6, Porter has prototypical size on the wing. He’s dynamic off the dribble, using quick crossovers and step-backs to generate space in isolation. His pull-up shooting should serve him well as a pick-and-roll ball handler.

With teams craving 3-and-D wings, it’s easy to forget the importance of isolation scoring when used correctly within the offense. Having someone who can break down defenders, score at all three levels and carry the load in late-game situations has value. Ideally Porter continues to evolve as a passer and defender.
