PLAYER GRADES: Brooklyn Nets 127, Philadelphia 76ers 124
By Sam Coltrane
Without Jimmy Butler, the Philadelphia 76ers fall at home to the Brooklyn Nets.
The Philadelphia 76ers started the game out fast taking an early lead, 25-16, before the Brooklyn Nets closed the first quarter on a 15-4 run.
The second quarter saw Brooklyn stretch their lead to as many as 13 until Ben Simmons got two of his four steals and helped close the Brooklyn lead to only one, 57-56.
Spencer Dinwiddie and Brooklyn proceeded on a 19-3 run in the third quarter to recapture their lead entering the fourth quarter. Dinwiddie had 12 of the 19 as he poured in a career-high 39 points off the bench.
Landry Shamet played his best basketball of the night late in the fourth quarter as Philadelphia worked its way back into the game, but it was too little, too late.
Ultimately, Philadelphia’s injuries and lack of depth proved to be too much as Brett Brown only played seven players more than 10 minutes.
The Sixers will host the Indiana Pacers at 7:30 PM E.T. on Friday, Dec. 14.
