The Celtics might get four first-round picks, which makes up for the Kings’ surprising success early in the campaign. With Terry Rozier trending toward a bigger contract elsewhere, adding another point guard behind Kyrie Irving makes sense.
While Zion, Barrett and Reddish get most of the attention at Duke, Jones continues to play an integral role on both ends. He’s limited in terms of physical profile, but he’s an exceptionally smart playmaker who minimizes mistakes, which normally leads to success at the NBA level.
He’s also a solid pull-up shooter who can do ample damage in the pick-and-roll. Defensively, Jones uses his quick hands to nab steals and force turnovers. He’s someone who should be unmistakably solid on both ends, which fits the Celtics’ win-now mindset.
