Wilson Chandler: More juice on defense
It’s clear Wilson Chandler is firmly on the decline — which, for an oft-injured 31-year-old, probably should have been the expectation all along. He’s still filling his role, hitting spot-ups threes, grabbing rebounds and defending his position. He just isn’t what he once was.
At 6-foot-8, Chandler has the size and strength to defend two or three positions on paper. He’s also solid on the interior, using his bulk to wall off scorers in isolation and force tough shots. He’s easily the best defender on the team outside the core trio.
With all that said, he still gets lost off the ball at times and struggles to contain quicker guards off the dribble. He’s an upgrade over Dario Saric, but his defense as a whole hasn’t lived up to expectations. Given the weak nature of the Sixers’ supporting cast, that’s somewhat disappointing.
