J.J. Redick: Positive regression
Few would dispute J.J. Redick’s standing as one of the NBA’s best shooters. His ability to relocate, cut and find open space is almost unrivaled. He and Joel Embiid have developed one of the NBA’s most dynamic two-man games.
And yet, Redick continues to struggle relative to expectations in his age 34 season, despite averaging a career-high 18.1 points per game. Shooting just 35.9 percent from deep, Redick barely eclipses the league-average mark. He’s going through an uncharacteristically bad stretch.
With defense being an undisputed negative, the Sixers need Redick to consistently produce on offense. His movement, spacing and scoring punch are highly valued in the rotation. Ideally he’s just in a slump and the numbers improve once the new year hits.
