Furkan Korkmaz: A stronger frame

Furkan Korkmaz continues to make himself useful in the Sixers’ second unit, giving Brett Brown another shooter to work with offensively. When it comes to the defensive end, though, Korkmaz still has considerable room to grow.

At 6-foot-7, Korkmaz has the size and length to effectively defend the wing. He’s even a solid athlete. The main struggle, at this point, is weight, with a thin 190-pound frame holding him back in certain matchups. He needs to keep hitting the weight room.

The Sixers already declined Korkmaz’s 2019-20 option, which is looking more and more like a mistake. For a team that needs floor spacers and lacks depth, his ability to step into a legitimate role and hit shots has been invaluable post-Butler trade.
