Landry Shamet: More athleticism
Landry Shamet, the reigning 26th overall pick, has given the Sixers legitimate value since day one. He’s a bona fide sharpshooter, hitting 40.5 percent of his three-point attempts and mimicking J.J. Redick‘s off-ball movement.
Where Shamet continues to hurt the Sixers, however, is the defensive end. With not much defense in the second unit, Shamet might be the weakest link. He’s a rookie guard — so it’s understandable — but it’s more physical tools than skill.
At 6-foot-4, Shamet lacks high-level athleticism and core strength, leaving him prone to mismatches in a switch-heavy scheme. He can add strength in the future, but overall, he’s going to remain limited barring an unforeseen athletic revelation.
