27. . 9-28. Previous: 27th. New York Knicks. 30. team

The Knicks are embracing the tank, playing younger rotations and beginning to fumble away games in epic fashion. Don’t expect Kristaps Porzingis to return any time soon — why rush it?

156. . 8-29. Previous: 29th. Cleveland Cavaliers. 29. team

The Cavaliers are down their two best players in Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson. Collin Sexton, despite solid statistical performances and brief flashes, continues to grade out as one of the NBA’s worst players. Larry Nance‘s production, among other things, has been a bright spot in a down year.

Previous: 28th. Chicago Bulls. 28. team. 24. . 10-27

The Bulls’ soap opera continues, with some positive trends in the performance of Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn. Jabari Parker flamed out, the the starting backcourt, Lauri Markkanen, and Wendell Carter Jr. are giving fans reason to watch.

Washington Wizards. 27. team. 142. . 14-23. Previous: 24th

John Wall will miss the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery. The Wizards were a mess before losing their floor general and arguable best player. Bradley Beal and Otto Porter should excel in expanded roles, but the Wiz are an unmitigated disaster right now.

Phoenix Suns. 26. team. 66. . 9-29. Previous: 26th

The Suns went on a minor win streak before dropping three straight. Nonetheless, Deandre Ayton is beginning to remind folks why he was drafted No. 1  — even if it was the wrong decision. Devin Booker is working at point guard.
