James Harden has four straight 40+ point games, emerging as the MVP favorite and leading the Rockets back to relevancy. With an uncertain timeline for Chris Paul‘s hamstring injury, Houston needs Harden to continue his historic production.

The Nuggets are in a virtual tie for first place. Nikola Jokic is a top-five MVP candidate in some circles, while Jamal Murray is showcasing All-Star potential — even if it doesn’t happen this season. Once the health improves, Denver could be a real threat in the West.

After starting the season ablaze, the Raptors have hit their first extended rough patch. Kyle Lowry missing time with injury isn’t helping, but things should improve with time. No team can sustain the same pace for an entire season. There are always fluctuations.

The Warriors are the Warriors, even with moderate concerns. Klay Thompson is finding his three-point stroke and DeMarcus Cousins will debut at some point in 2019. Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are potential first team All-NBA players. If only Draymond Green wasn’t a total zero on offense at the moment.

Mike Budenholzer is an elite coach, folks. The Bucks have unlocked Giannis Antetokounmpo, putting him firmly in the MVP race alongside the aforementioned Harden. With ample spacing and an elite defense, the Bucks can terrorize opponents in every facet. They’ve earned the top spot.
