Furkan Korkmaz

By Lucas Johnson

Personally, I’m not on the Furkan Korkmaz bandwagon. That isn’t to say that he doesn’t have the potential to be a solid rotation player down the line, but as of now if the Sixers had quality depth on the perimeter, then he wouldn’t be getting the playing time that he’s receiving. While improving defensively should always be a goal for Korkmaz, becoming a more consistent threat from down town should be his New Year’s resolution.

This isn’t the first time that I wrote about the oversea product’s inconsistent shooting. Yet it’s persisting to be a problem as the season proceeds forward. On the positive side, he has shown progress towards consistency with him shooting 35.8 percent from 3-point land in the month of December.

Read. Blue Coats have two NBA prospects. light

That’s a solid percentage, but due to Korkmaz being a liability on defense, he needs to increase that percentage to around 40.0 percent in order to help offset his poor defense. Even though he had a good December, he’s still only shooting 32.3 percent from downtown this season and that needs to improve.

He’s impending free agency this summer, so he’s not only trying to get better to help the Sixers this postseason, but he’s also auditioning for potential suitors outside of Philly as well. Regardless of what happens this offseason, it’s important for the 76ers and Korkmaz that he continues to improve his 3-point efficiency this season.
