Philadelphia 76ers 2019 roundtable: New Year’s resolutions
J.J. Redick
By Lucas Johnson
It’s hard to miss in a season where a 34-year-old is having a career season scoring, but J.J. Redick is loosing some of his efficiency from behind the arc. The veteran sharp shooter has shot the 3-ball at a career clip 41.2 percent, but it seems age may finally be catching up with the marksman.

Redick is hitting at the second lowest percentage of his career at 36.9 percent, it should also be noted that he’s attempting a career high 7.6 3-pointers a game. The only New Year’s resolution that the veteran needs for 2019 is to improve his accuracy from downtown. The benefits to Redick increasing his 3-point percentages benefits all parties involved.
Teams won’t be so quick to double-team Embiid down in the post and it will open up even wider driving lanes for both Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler. It will also help a team that’s currently 20th in the league in 3-point percentage.
This isn’t to say that Redick is in danger of a severe decline, but it’s a little bit worrisome, especially because how much the 76ers rely on his floor spacing. If he can improve his 3-point percentage even on the smallest of margins, it would be a world of difference for the Sixers.
