Markelle Fultz
By Jack Duffy
Markelle Fultz has had a very challenging 2018 year and 2019 looks to be the year where the 20-year-old stud breaks out. After a year of uncertainty surrounding Fultz’s shoulder problems, he was finally diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome about a month ago.
Fultz is now in Los Angeles with physical therapists rehabbing his nerve injury in hopes of returning to the court this season. Markelle Fultz’s 2019 New Years resolution is to completely get over the shoulder/nerve ailments that have sidelined him and restricted him from playing to his full abilities.
Even when Markelle Fultz returned this year, you could tell there still was some discomfort in his shoulder. It did not help that his ex-trainer, Drew Hanlen, said that Fultz would be playing at an All-Star level this year and would blow up the league, resulting in fans having sky-high expectations.
Now, Fultz has all the time he needs to fix every problem he has due to thoracic outlet syndrome. Fultz’s agent has said he expects him to play again this year but the popular belief among fans is that they want him to take his time returning, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
At Washington, Fultz could score from anywhere on the court at any time no matter who was guarding him. People don’t expect Fultz to come back playing as a No.1 overall pick should immediately, but if Markelle can just show that he has recovered and has a loose, flowing shooting motion, that would be the most promising sign of his comeback.
The entire Philadelphia 76ers organization has the back of Markelle Fultz and the fans do as well. The combo guard has had a very unfortunate start to his young career and the pressure he has received has not helped either. Fultz will use 2019 as a new beginning to fully recover from his injury and to get back on the basketball court without limitations, so he can begin playing the game he loves with his brothers and the best fan base in the entire world.
