The month of December revealed that the Philadelphia 76ers are lacking in the depth department, which can be clearly seen in the player rankings.

During December, one thing had become abundantly clear regarding the structure of the Philadelphia 76ers roster. The team lost what little depth it had when the Jimmy Butler trade went down. The following rankings more than reflect the lack of depth the team has.

16. Justin Patton

December Stats: None

Previous ranking: 16th

The rapid decline of Amir Johnson, has all but assured that the Sixers need the extra depth that Justin Patton could provide once he’s healthy. While there weren’t anything outside of rumors surrounding the big man this past December, hopefully Patton is closer to returning than further at this point. He’d be a welcomed member of the center rotation off the bench.

15. Zhaire Smith

December Stats: None

Previous ranking: 15th

More from Sixers News

The rookie has had head coach Brett Brown publicly state how much the team needs him defensively, while comparing him to a very good defensive wing, Avery Bradley. Also there has been a picture that has surfaced proving The Ringer’s report about how much weight Smith has lost due to his allergic reaction. On the positive note, the team does expect him to return at some point this season.

14. Markelle Fultz

 December Stats: None

Previous ranking: 10th

December was an eventful month for the former number one overall pick. The rookie was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and has been getting physical therapy due to how the condition affects the nerves in his shoulder which limits his range of motion. The good news is that he is expected to play again this season.

13. Demetrius Jackson

December Stats: GP 4 | MINS 5.0| FG% 36.4| 3P% 0.0| FT% 100.0| TRB 0.8| AST 1.0| STL 0.3| TOV 0.3| PTS 3.0

Previous ranking: 14th

The journeyman didn’t give the Sixers any really good reasons why they should continue to keep him on a two-way contract during December. His best game came at the end of the month where he had 10 points in a blowout loss against the Portland Trail Blazers.
