The Philadelphia 76ers added a new rookie to their roster and he’s already got on the scoreboard in the first game of his career.
This has been an eventful week for the Philadelphia 76ers and their rookies. They had two of their rookies reach an incredible new career high in scoring. The team signed a new rookie player and that player along with another rookie played two games in a single day.

Another week has gone by and there still isn’t any recent updates regarding Zhaire Smith. It would be nice to have an update on his recovery and rehab, however there may just be nothing to report at this point.
26th pick, 2018
After a couple of weeks of low scoring, Landry Shamet finally broke out of that slump in a big way. The combo guard scored a career high of 29 points and went 8-14 from the 3-point line in a blowout victory against the Washington Wizards. Shamet’s game was impressive to say the least and it shows that Shamet has real potential to take over J.J. Redick‘s role down the road.

Jonah Bolden has rewarded head coach Brett Brown’s faith in the rookie big man with solid production. He scored a career high of 11 points and tied a career of nine rebounds against the Dallas Mavericks. It’s safe to say unless Bolden sees several bad games in a row, then Brown should continue to rely on the big man. Bolden didn’t see any G-League action this past week.

Shake Milton had a busy week, he played a total of three games with the Sixers and one game with the Delaware Blue Coats. He actually had two games in one day where he played with both Delaware and Philly. He scored 33 points in 37 minutes with the Blue Coats against the Raptors 905 and four points in 20 minutes with the 76ers in the first game of a back-to-back against the Mavericks.
Milton didn’t have a good week with the Sixers overall. Two out of three games he shot 25.0 percent or below from the floor. His one game with the Blue Coats was very good, but he needs to translate his game to the NBA level on a more consistent basis.

Undrafted, 2018
Haywood Highsmith is the newest addition to The Sixer Sense’s rookie report after Philly waived Demetrius Jackson and signed Highsmith to a two-way contract. Highsmith is oozing with 3-and-D potential and he is a perfect fit for the 76ers roster. He played for the Sixers in one game and the Blue Coats in three games this past week.
Like Milton, Highsmith played two games in one day. He played a total of 38 minutes between the Sixers and the Blue Coats. Highsmith’s best game was against the Greensboro Swarm where he had 22 points. It will probably take time for Highsmith to get consistent playing time with the Sixers, but his development should be fun to watch.
