Moving into the top four, Detroit has an opportunity to address their point guard issues. The team doesn’t seem sold on Reggie Jackson long term, which is understandable. Ja Morant, despite playing for mid-major Murray State, continues to solidify himself as the top point guard prospect in the 2019 class.
With high-level athleticism, Morant is capable of making some highlight plays — including a recent dunk in which he Giannis Antetokounmpo’d his defender. Adding strength will be important, especially on defense, but he’s a quick-twitch, dynamic athlete who stands out against all levels of competition.
Despite questions about his three-point shot, Morant should thrive offensively. He’s a shifty ball handler, explosive slasher and impressive passer, boasting elite instincts and court vision along with his speedy movement. The Pistons would happily take him inside the top five.
