How do the Philadelphia 76ers stack up against the East with Tobias Harris?
Boston Celtics
For the past two years, Sixers fans have been clamoring for a team that could beat Boston. It has become an obsession; every move being graded on its effectiveness in beating Boston. Adding Tobias Harris may have put us over the edge. Feb. 12, the Boston Celtics travel to the Wells Fargo Center to give us a true idea of where our team stands with the new additions.
The Celtics roster is centered around Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum offensively, with a very capable team on the defensive end. They allow 105.8 points per game to opponents, good for fourth in the NBA. The 76ers have struggled mightily against the Celtics in recent years, with our second round exit in the playoffs coming at the hands of Boston last season.
In terms of matchups, Boston’s bench is still a bit deeper than ours, but our starting five is much stronger. Though winning in Boston has shown to be a challenge, I think our new roster would fare well up north. The 76ers are now in prime position to take the 3 seed in the East, meaning a matchup with the likely 4 seeded Boston would not come until the Eastern Conference Finals.
