Philadelphia 76ers Player Rankings: Rookies stepping up
6. Wilson Chandler
January Stats: GP 12| MINS 27.7| FG% 43.7| 3P% 42.2| FT% 83.3| TRB 4.3| AST 2.2| BKL 0.6| STL 1.1| PF 3.1| TOV 2.6| PTS 7.2
Previous ranking: 5th
January was by fair the best month Chandler had as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. He shot very efficiently from the 3-point line and was solid defensively. He even won the Sixers on a defensive stop against the San Antonio Spurs, when he blocked a layup attempt by DeMar DeRozan. January was the first month that Chandler looked truly comfortable within the Sixers system. He also had a season high of 14 rebounds against the Houston Rockets.
5. Landry Shamet
January Stats: GP 15| MINS 19.2| FG% 49.0| 3P% 45.7| FT% 92.9| TRB 1.7| AST 1.5| BKL 0.1| STL 0.5| PF 2.2| TOV 0.5| PTS 9.5
Previous ranking: 7th
To say that Shamet started the new year off on the right foot would be an understatement. He scored a career high 29 points and a career high of 8 made 3-pointers in the Sixers first matchup against the Washington Wizards. He was more active defensively and was more consistent from downtown. Another development that surrounded Shamet in January was that Brown used him at the point guard position every now and again. January was easily Shamet’s best month as a part of the Sixers.
4. Jimmy Butler
January Stats: GP 10| MINS 32.8| FG% 49.3| 3P% 29.6| FT% 84.7| TRB 5.7| AST 4.4| BKL 0.5| STL 2.1| PF 1.6| TOV 1.7| PTS 19.6
Previous ranking: 3rd
Butler missed a good chunk of the month by not playing in five games. On top of that, the concern about Butler’s 3-point shooting from the December’s Player Rankings continued into January. Butler’s 3-point shot just wasn’t there in the beginning of the new year. On the positive side, he was overall efficient in his scoring and was more of a facilitator. Still missing a third of the games is the main reason he dropped a spot in the player rankings.
