Jaxson Hayes quickly went from an unknown to a potential lottery pick, anchoring the Longhorns’ frontcourt and following the footsteps of Mohamed Bamba and Jarrett Allen. An athletic finisher and rim protector, Hayes fits a clear NBA archetype.
Despite limited minutes, Hayes became an integral defensive presence, averaging 3.8 blocks per 40 minutes. His 7-foot frame, long arms, and quick first (and second) bounce allowed him to terrorize shooters in the paint.
On the offensive end, Hayes plays a straightforward game, shooting 86.7 percent at the rim, according to Hoop-Math. He can set screens, roll to the rim, finish lobs and clean up the offensive glass. He will have value in the NBA.
