Most draft boards have Cam Reddish lower than this, for good reason. He has struggled in Duke’s talent-laden rotation, shooting just 35.8 percent from the field and seldom putting his thumbprint on games.
At least some of Reddish’s struggles can be attributed to his situation, though. He’s a top-four recruit forced to play third or fourth wheel on offense, searching for a role in Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett’s shadows. He probably would’ve looked better on his own team.
It’s important to go beyond Reddish’s Duke tenure when evaluating his draft status. He was impressive in high school and AAU ball, earning the status of most naturally talented player in the class. He’s a 6-foot-9 wing who can spray it from deep and make the occasional high-level pass. The tools are there.
