Ja Morant continued his statement-making season in March, leading Murray State to a first-round upset with the first triple-double in the tournament since 2012. He’s the clear-cut top point guard in the class, blending dynamic athleticism and impressive skill on the perimeter.

It’s rare to see top-three picks from mid-major schools, but Morant has shown out against high-level competition in the past. His thin frame has sparked questions about his defense and durability, but there’s room (and time) for him to bulk up. He’s already an explosive athlete who relentlessly attacks the paint.

Along with getting stronger, Morant will need to continue his growth as a three-point shooter in the NBA. His passing chops are elite and he’s a bona fide bucket-getter, but teams will have a better chance at containing him if he isn’t a reliable deep threat.
