The Wizards still have John Wall and Bradley Beal on the roster, yet a rebuild feels inevitable. At some point the stumbling will stop and franchise will strip down, which makes Sekou Doumbouya a smart pick. He’s the top international prospect in the draft and one of the youngest players available.

Listed at 6-foot-9, Doumbouya presents one of the highest defensive ceilings in the 2019 class. He’s both athletic and versatile, switching between several positions and offering potential as a weak-side rim protector with his quickness and leaping ability. His athletic tools alone will garner lottery interest.

On the offensive end, Doumbouya has been inconsistent all season. He struggled early before missing time with injury — his youth playing an obvious role in those struggles. He was 17 and adjusting to a top-tier European league. His lumps were natural. Doumbouya finished the campaign strong, though, which buoys his stock heading into the draft.
