After a promising freshman campaign, P.J. Washington returned to Kentucky as a sophomore. It paid off, as he’s now staring at a potential top-20 selection. The Nets lack frontcourt depth and could be in search of another versatile four, which Washington provides.
Listed at 6-foot-8, Washington has the strength to contain bigs in the post and the lateral agility to defend in space. He’s a viable multi-position defender whose versatility places him among the best defensive prospects in the 2019 class.
Washington also grew on offense, increasing his production and adding skills around the edges. He’s a fluid face-up scorer, a more capable three-point shooter than last season, and a skilled finisher inside. He fits the Nets’ versatile rotations as someone who could work in small-ball lineups and perform as a traditional four.
