Despite suffering a meniscus tear and missing all but three games as a freshman, Darius Garland is firmly in top-five contention. He also left the combine in Chicago, leaving some to speculate that he already has a promise. The Suns would make a great deal of sense.
Phoenix has been short on point guards for a while, struggling to find consistent playmaking outside Devin Booker this past season. There are promising flashes with De’Anthony Melton and Elie Okobo, but that won’t take away the allure of Garland’s skill set.
Garland should fit nicely in combination with Booker, offering a quick-twitch playmaker who’s as successful without the ball as he is with it. Garland boasts deep range, a dynamic pull-up game and the ability to curl around screens and spot-up proficiently. He’d be a nice complement to Booker and DeAndre Ayton in Monty Williams‘ offense.
