Chuma Okeke tore his ACL during Auburn’s tournament run, which complicates things moving forward. Teams will need to be confident in his medical situation to use a first-round pick, as it isn’t Okeke’s first knee issue. As a prospect, though, he’s earned such consideration.
Standing 6-foot-8, Okeke is a smart, high-energy defender who can switch between multiple positions. He’s not an elite athlete, but smartly positions himself for weak-side blocks, steals and help defense.
He also projects as a solid glue piece on offense, hitting spot-up jumpers, cutting to the rim and operating in the post. His passing is underrated and his touch helps compensate for limited explosiveness inside. He’s a prototypical two-way role player.
