The Hawks might not keep all three first-round picks, whether that means trading up or exploring other potential trade avenues. But Atlanta has room to roster all three if need be, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker makes a great deal of sense.

Atlanta has already added size and versatility in Cam Reddish, as well as a rim protector in Jaxson Hayes. Alexander-Walker provides another complement to Trae Young in the backcourt — an elite spot-up shooter who has also shown tremendous upside as a passer.

At 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, Alexander-Walker has great tools for a comboguard. He’s not an elite athlete, but should defend both guard spots and has a well-rounded offensive toolkit. His basketball I.Q., passing chops and shooting are all bankable NBA skills.
