A major riser in recent weeks, Mfiondu Kabengele will earn looks as high as the mid-teens. OKC pulls the trigger on a promising reserve behind Steven Adams — one who can shoot and defend in space, a combination Adams doesn’t provide.

At 6-foot-10, Kabengele pairs an NBA-ready frame and a 7-foot-3 wingspan. He’s a mobile, bouncy interior defender — with notable pedigree as the nephew of NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo. He’s checks all the boxes of a modern defensive five.

While the sample size was limited, Kabengele’s 36.9 three-point percentage is a promising mark. He should continue to expand his range and provide OKC with a viable pick-and-pop threat, in addition to his upside as a rim-running, lob-catching center.
