The Cavaliers need help at every position, as neither Kevin Love nor Tristan Thompson are part of the long-term plans. Collin Sexton exceeded expectations as a rookie, but adding another shot-creator to complement him makes sense. Culver fits the bill.
After a strong freshman season, Culver’s sophomore campaign established him as a top-five prospect. He’s a versatile defender with room to grow, while his shot-making and playmaking upside are valuable attributes on the wing.
In John Beilein’s fast-paced offense, joining Sexton and Culver on the perimeter could work wonders. Sexton has developed into a rock-solid three-point shooter, while Culver continues to show growth in that respect. It makes sense on paper, and it’s Best Player Available.
