Despite rumblings around Cam Reddish and other prospects, it’s difficult to envision De’Andre Hunter falling below Phoenix. He might be the best defender in the draft, standing 6-foot-7 and boasting the tools to guard across the positional spectrum.
The Suns already have a frontcourt anchor in Deandre Ayton and will lean on Devin Booker for perimeter scoring. Point guard has been a position of need for quite some time, but the Suns have De’Anthony Melton in the pipeline and could prefer to pursue veteran options in free agency.
Hunter is an excellent complement to Ayton at the four, giving the Suns a strong spot-up shooter who can thrive in an off-ball role. Add in a tough-minded approach, his 7-foot-2 wingspan and his ability to switch on defense, and it’s a natural pairing.
