Philadelphia 76ers: Terry Harris to join summer league roster

The Philadelphia 76ers have began to fill out their summer league roster and the first player they’ve added has a family connection to the franchise.

Now is the time for NBA teams to find undrafted free agents and see if they can be contributors to their franchise. The Philadelphia 76ers are no exception and they have already started to fill out their summer league roster. The player they added has potential and is closely connected to one of the Sixers key free agents this summer.

Terry Harris may not be the same level of player that his brother is, but he has a skill that can help the Sixers summer league team. Harris just finished up a college career that had him well traveled. He’s played for Houston Baptist, Eastern Michigan and, most recently, North Carolina A&T. During his senior season at NC A&T, he averaged 8.1 points and 2.8 rebounds, while shooting 41.1 percent from the 3-point line.

At 6-foot-6 and 215lbs, the biggest asset that Harris brings to the Sixers summer league roster is his 3-point shooting. He’s not particularly elite in other areas on offense and his defense isn’t that good. Yet that 41.1 percent shooting from downtown has been interesting enough for Philly’s front office to want to evaluate further.

This isn’t the first time that the younger Harris brother has been linked to the Sixers. Terry Harris worked out for the franchise prior to the 2019 NBA draft as well. It only makes sense, in that regard, that the franchise would want to take an extended look at him in summer league action.

Next: Grading the Sixers’ poor 2019 NBA Draft performance

This opportunity to be on the Philadelphia 76ers summer league roster doesn’t mean that Tobias Harris‘ little brother will get a chance to come to the club’s training camp or sign another contract. However, Terry Harris’ 3-point shooting is something that the Sixers apparently want to take a closer look at.
