The Philadelphia 76ers have put together an enticing Summer League squad.

It’s that time of year again. The Philadelphia 76ers will participate in the 2019 Las Vegas Summer League, joining the other 29 NBA teams, as well as the Croatian and Chinese National Teams. This season, the Sixers have a real chance to make some noise.

While there are definite limitations to the roster, the Summer Sixers, much like the actual Sixers, have a stout defensive front. Norvel Pelle, Zhaire Smith, Matisse Thybulle, Shake Milton — tons of athletic, versatile defensive bodies.

Summer League games are often grimy, which benefits a more defensive-oriented group. The Sixers have the tools to blitz top prospects, switch screens and shut down opposing offenses. Philadelphia will be fun to watch for reasons other than high-end scoring.

The Sixers’ first game in Vegas is this afternoon, July 5 at 3:30 PM E.T. against the Milwaukee Bucks. It’s the first of four preliminary games before the top-eight teams are seeded and placed in a tournament to finish the week.

Here are five things to watch for as the festivities get underway.
