The Philadelphia 76ers hang on late in their summer league opener as the Milwaukee Bucks storm back late.
The Philadelphia 76ers were in total control from the outset of the game. They posted a wire-to-wire win that saw them jump out to a 16-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Philadelphia came out putting on a dunk clinic between high-flying alley oops and dominance in the pick-and-roll.
Philadelphia opened the game strong bursting out to 13-point lead after the first quarter, 32-19. They expanded the lead to 17 by halftime going into the locker room with a 60-43 lead.
As a whole, the team looked great in the first half showcasing their strong defensive potential.
Both teams came out playing competitively in the third quarter, but only one team really played to their potential in the fourth. Milwaukee outscored Philadelphia by 15 points and had possession with four seconds remaining down only a single point.
The final possessions reminded everyone watching that it was summer league. Matisse Thybulle fouled a three-point shooter and both teams turned the ball over multiple times in the final 30 seconds.
All in all, it was a great game for Philadelphia by them maintaining the wire-to-wire win while also getting a learning lesson of needing to put teams away when given the opportunity.
Philadelphia will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow, July 6th, against the Boston Celtics on ESPN at 5:30 PM ET.
