Marquese Chriss
Marquese Chriss is the only big man on this list. Despite being a former lottery pick, he has never lived up to his draft status. Each season, Chriss has shown regression in his production. The Phoenix Suns gave up on him only after two seasons and last year, he bounced between the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Yet despite his disappointment as a young player thus far, he has the potential that the Sixers shouldn’t ignore.
For his career, Chriss has averaged 7.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks, while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor and 29.6 percent from behind the arc. He has upsides as a defender, rim runner and stretch big at 22-years-old. The Philadelphia 76ers could give him a non-guaranteed contract and give him some run with their G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.
Jerian Grant
There’s no doubt that the Sixers need help at the point guard spot and Jerian Grant could be a cheap stop gap for the franchise. By no means is Grant a long term solution for the backup point guard position, but he would help fortify the position for this upcoming season.
Last season, Grant averaged 4.2 points, 2.6 assists and 0.7 steals, while converting 36.4 percent of his 3-pointers. He’s played for the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic in his four year career. He could push Neto for playing time if signed, especially due to his solid defensive play. Besides being the brother of former Sixers wing, Jerami Grant, Jerian Grant would be a cheap stop gap at the backup spot.
