1. Jeremy Lin
The Sixers’ need for another point guard wins out. Jeremy Lin was out of the rotation come postseason time, but showed enough last season — both in Atlanta and in Toronto — to warrant heavy consideration.
If Philadelphia can lure Lin on a one-year minimum contract, it’s a no-brainer. He provides a necessary skill set on the perimeter as someone who can space the floor, create in live-dribble situations and coexist with other ball-dominant players.
One area of concern for Lin is his 3-point efficiency. He hit just 29.4 percent of his attempts last season, though it’s important to add context. He spent a large chunk of the season in Atlanta, a team lacking in reliable ball handlers. His role was inconsistent upon arriving in Toronto, where a strong rotation was already in place.
There wasn’t a ton of space for Lin to find his rhythm. His career arc tells a different, more promising story behind the 3-point line. Lin is also a crafty interior finisher, even if injuries have sapped the shiftiness that once defined the fleeting Linsanity era.
A sturdy 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard, Lin has the tool kit to earn minutes in the Sixers’ rotation. Of the names on this list, he has the greatest chance to earn meaningful minutes on a game-to-game basis. He can push Neto to the periphery.
