Josh Richardson vs. Wesley Matthews

Josh Richardson, the new kid on the block, having come from Miami in the Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade, will look to have a large impact on the Sixers’ offense this season. Whilst Wesley Matthews, the Ex-Pacers guard, is a new feature of the Bucks team in order to make up for the loss of Brogdon and Nikola Mirotic.

From the naked eye, Josh Richardson is also clearly a better all-round player, his ability to shoot 3s and amazing defending attributes giving him a clear edge over Wesley Matthews.

The numbers put up by these two players also suggests that Richardson is a better baller. He averages four more points, 0.5 more rebounds, 1.5 more steals and 0.3 more blocks than Matthews. It is, however, fair to say that Wesley Matthews was heavily disadvantaged last year due to him playing for three different teams (Mavs, Knicks and Pacers).

When taking into consideration the instability he had in last year’s season, the numbers he put up regardless are rather impressive. When these two match up during the course of the season, it will be quite interesting to watch how Josh Richardson’s defensive abilites will put Wesley Matthews offensive game to the test.
