Before the beginning of the Philadelphia 76ers season, it’s important to do a thorough breakdown of each player on the roster.
The Philadelphia 76ers have quite a bit of time before their first regular season game. The franchise has had a busy summer and they have added eight new players via the draft, trade and free agency. Before any of these new players hit the court, it’s good to get familiar with these players and what potential role each one will have this upcoming season.
Norvel Pelle
Position: center
Potential Role: two-way contract
If all else fails, the Sixers will rely on Norvel Pelle for minutes at the center position. Pelle had a strong showing with Philly’s G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, last season. He made G-League’s All-Defensive team, while averaging 3.0 blocks per game. That block average was third highest in the G-League. The athletic big man also averaged 11.1 points and 8.6 rebounds, while converting 69.9 percent from the field.
Most of this upcoming season, Pelle should be playing with the Blue Coats again. However, if the 76ers don’t have either starting big men available, then Pelle will most likely be called up and get some playing time. Health and load management will dictate how much Pelle will suit up for the Sixers this season. If he does hit the floor for the Sixers, then he will bring high energy on defense and can finish around the rim on offense. He’s a solid emergency center for Philly this season.
