Shake Milton
Position: shooting/point guard
Potential role: depth
This offseason Shake Milton was rewarded with a new four-year contract after having a phenomenal season with the Blue Coats. In the G-League, he averaged 24.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists, while converting 36.9 percent from deep. His season with the Philadelphia 76ers was more on par with being a former second round pick. The combo guard averaged 4.4 points, while making 31.8 percent of his 3-pointers.
Milton is set to be at the tail end of the point guard and shooting guard depth charts. In the G-League he showed some combo guard abilities. However, as of now, he’s nowhere close to being ready for a point guard role and the wing depth will prevent him from getting regular minutes at shooting guard. Milton could be best served playing with the Blue Coats again this season, as I have written about in the past.
Jonah Bolden
Position: power forward/center
Potential role: depth
Outside of Landry Shamet, who was traded last season, Jonah Bolden was the rookie that Brown relied upon the most. The Sixers were desperate for center depth last season and Bolden provided it the best he could. He averaged 4.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 fouls, while converting 35.4 percent from behind the arc. The only thing that marred his rookie season was the fact that he had a hard time of staying out of foul trouble.
Like Milton, I wrote that Bolden should consider playing with Delaware this upcoming season. The 76ers fixed their depth problems at the power forward and center positions this summer, which has resulted in no clear path for playing. Unless load management or injury take place, it’s hard to see Bolden having a consistent role off the bench.
