A dynamic athlete at 6-foot-7, Kahlil Whitney should have no issues appealing to NBA scouts. Now it’s about letting his skill catch up to his physical tools — most notably his handles and shooting stroke.

Whitney is an inconsistent 3-point shooter who, due to his limited handles, can’t always break down defenders with success. He settles for the occasional bad shot as a result, which results in lost possessions and disrupted offensive flow.

If Whitney can continue to add to his skill level on offense, however, his defensive potential should carry his stock in college. Kentucky, for better or worse, tends to put prospects in a good place before the draft. Expect Whitney to get a real chance to thrive in Cal’s system.
