Who might the Philadelphia 76ers sign to round out their bench?

Reports of the Philadelphia 76ers working out Spencer Hawes and Joe Johnson raise questions about the 15th roster spot Philly has. Are they moving on from Trey Burke, whom they signed on July 30, and if so, who are they likely to sign this late in free agency? Here are some potential options the Sixers might explore:

Spencer Hawes

One of the legends of the Process, Hawes averaged a decent 10 points and seven rebounds during his tenure in Philadelphia from 2010-14, accumulating a VORP of 3.3. He was never an All-Star with the 76ers (or any team, for that matter), but he held his own.

Hawes is a career 35 percent 3-point shooter with a decent sample size–1026 of his 5363 career shot attempts are 3s. The fact of the matter is: you’re not getting anything crazy from Spencer Hawes, nor should you expect him to be a great contributor. He hasn’t played in the league since 2017 and he didn’t do anything spectacular that year–he averaged 14.8 minutes that year and put up 6.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Why, then, should the Sixers bring in a 31-year-old center who hasn’t played in the league for two years? While The Sixer Sense’s own Lucas Johnson believes he should be given an Exhibit 10 contract, I don’t see how Hawes makes sense on the Sixers at all. Frankly, he’s only on this list because Elton is interested.
