Before the Philadelphia 76ers begin the 2019-20 season, it’s good to have a potential depth chart laid out for each position.

Last offseason, I wrote about the projected depth charts for each position for the Philadelphia 76ers. Head coach Brett Brown has two new starters and handful new players on the bench to get familiar with. Obviously, he will need time to figure everything out, but a potential depth chart could look like the following.

Point Guard

Starter

Like last year, Ben Simmons is fully expected to be the team’s starter heading into this season. However, unlike last year, Simmons has the burden of being an All-Star. He made the All-Star game by averaging 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.4 steals. Hopefully, this is the year that the Sixers and their fans will finally start seeing an outside jump shot from Simmons.

Primary reserve

Instead of Markelle Fultz and T.J. McConnell battling for the role as primary reserve for Simmons, this season it’s Trey Burke and Raul Neto. Both are solid backups, but with Burke being the more dynamic scorer of the two, he should have a hand-up on Neto for role heading into the season. For more on how Burke could become the backup, check out Christopher Kline of The Sixer Sense’s piece about it.

Rest of depth

While Shake Milton doesn’t appear to be ready to perform point guard duties this season, he’s fourth on this depth chart. Besides the natural point guards or even combo guards on the roster, there’s an outside chance Brown could rely on his starting shooting guard to take on the role, as I’ve written about in the past.
