Philadelphia 76ers: Elton Brand and Andre Miller eligible for Hall of Fame
Two former Philadelphia 76ers players will be eligible for the next Hall of Fame induction, but will they get in on the first try?
The class for the 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame looks like it could be full of stars. According to ESPN, the class could headline players Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Chris Bosh and Kevin Garnett. There are other players that are eligible for the 2020 class as well, including two former Philadelphia 76ers players.

Both Elton Brand and Andre Miller played with the Sixers during their NBA career. Brand had two separate stints with Philly. The first was from the 2008-09 season to the 2011-12 season. The second was for the 2015-16 season. For the five years he played with 76ers, Brand averaged 12.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.
During his NBA career, Brand averaged 15.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. He was named to two All-Star games, made the All-NBA second team and was rookie of the year back in the 1999-2000 season. Brand is 26th in blocks and 23rd in offense rebounds all-time. Brand is currently Philly’s general manager where he has made several very good transactions to make the team a contender.

He played at Duke during college, in which he averaged 16.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. During college tenure he collected multiple accolades, including being named a consensus All-American.
Miller played with the 76ers for two and half seasons. From part way through the 2006-07 season to the end of of the 2008-09 season, he averaged 15.9 points, 6.9 assists and 1.3 steals. For his career, he averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 assists and 1.2 steals. Miller is 11th all-time in career assists. He played at Utah during college where he was also named a consensus All-American and he averaged 12.1 points, 5.4 assists and 1.9 steals in four season.
While both Miller and Brand had accomplished basketball careers in both college and the NBA, its doubtful that either will make the Hall of Fame next year, if anytime soon. Former Sixers big man Chris Webber has had much more accomplished career than either Brand or Miller and as of yet he’s not in the Hall of Fame. I’ve written about why Webber should be in the Hall of Fame in the past.
Only Duncan, Bryant and Garnett seem like the only locks to be first ballet Hall of Famers. Bosh and Amar’e Stoudemire have a chance to make it in on the first time as well. However, for players like Miller, Brand, Tayshaun Prince, Kirk Hinrich, Kevin Martin and Caron Butler it seems unlikely that they will make the Hall of Fame next year.

Both Miller and Brand have impressive basketball resumes and will hopefully make the Hall of Fame at some point in the future. Sadly for the time being, it appears that both will have to wait patiently.
