3. Have his shooting translate to the NBA

Milton has a long track record of efficient shooting, which dates back to his SMU days. It continued last season with the Blue Coats, where he scored 24.9 points per game and effectively led the charge as Delaware’s offensive bell cow.

In his limited NBA minutes, however, Milton struggled to sink shots at his typical rate. He shot just 39.1 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from deep. He doesn’t shoot the softest ball, so there’s valid reason for concern.

The jump between G-League and NBA is a sizable one. If Milton comfortably gets shots up as Delaware’s go-to option, that doesn’t guarantee a successful transition to a more complementary role in Philadelphia. It’s a different job, a different rhythm, and a different level of competition.

Milton’s performance in Vegas this summer wasn’t reassuring either. He was shoved into the point guard role and struggled to create space as a ball handler. He will get more spot-up and off-ball looks in Philadelphia — a positive, for sure — but again, there’s not as much certainty around his NBA projection as one might expect.
