Philadelphia 76ers: 5 players to watch during the 2019 preseason
Ben Simmons
The development of Simmons’ jump shot has been the buzz all summer long. Despite being an All-Star in his second season and the Rookie of the Year in his first, the 6-foot-10 point guard is far from a finished product. Last seaosn, he averaged 16.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.7 assists, while converting 56.3 percent of his shots from the field.
If he wants to make a leap in his third season, then adding a jump shoot is the best way to do that. The good news for the Sixers and their fans is that Simmons has attempted and made a 3-pointer in the first preseason game. In case you missed it, here it is for your viewing pleasure.
It’s a good first step in adding a jumper to his game, as I recently wrote about. However, it’s important to see if he will continue attempting them throughout the rest of the preseason. If he does, then it’s a good sign that Simmons will have a breakout season. If not, then it only means that he will slowly develop his 3-point shot this year.
There are a lot of important story lines for the Philadelphia 76ers entering this season. These five players’ production should be followed during the preseason. Agree with this list? Comment below if you think there should be anyone else included on this list.
