Ben Simmons

The development of Simmons’ jump shot has been the buzz all summer long. Despite being an All-Star in his second season and the Rookie of the Year in his first, the 6-foot-10 point guard is far from a finished product. Last seaosn, he averaged 16.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.7 assists, while converting 56.3 percent of his shots from the field.

If he wants to make a leap in his third season, then adding a jump shoot is the best way to do that. The good news for the Sixers and their fans is that Simmons has attempted and made a 3-pointer in the first preseason game. In case you missed it, here it is for your viewing pleasure.

It’s a good first step in adding a jumper to his game, as I recently wrote about. However, it’s important to see if he will continue attempting them throughout the rest of the preseason. If he does, then it’s a good sign that Simmons will have a breakout season. If not, then it only means that he will slowly develop his 3-point shot this year.
