4. KAT took the bait

Joel Embiid has literally gone on record saying he tries to play mind games. Some people fall for it. Some don’t. Towns fell into the trap. He absolutely deserved to stand up to a person that’s been trying to constantly mow him over. But in doing so, KAT opened the door for Embiid to officially plant the flag in his head.

More from Sixers News

It was a 20-point deficit and he just got muscled by a rival center. He wasn’t happy and had every right to be. Unless KAT jaw-rocked Embiid in front of 20,000 of his own fans, there was no way confronting him was going to work. The day before the game KAT was asked about the matchup between himself and Joel Embiid.

"“Not at all. It’s a game about trying to find a team win. I know everyone wants to hype it up, that’s what sells papers, but I ain’t in the business of making you all money. I’m in the business of getting W’s that’s what I’m about. I’m going out there trying to find a way to get a team win and we’ve got to play together if we want to beat a good team in Philly.”"

This quote aged like milk. Towns helped sell papers and didn’t ultimately help his team find a way to win. KAT was tired of the crap, and tried to unsuccessfully fix it. This is a Sixers site and I don’t want to sound biased towards Embiid, but nobody speaks louder than the scoreboard. This incident will hopefully wind up bringing the best out of KAT and Embiid.
