Philadelphia 76ers: 5 gut reactions after the first week of the regular season
3. 3-point shooting is a bit of an issue
We knew coming in that the 76ers were not going to be a team that shoots the lights out, as head coach Brett Brown even said before the season that the Sixers were going to play “Smash Mouth Offense”. With that being said, the 76ers’ lack of three-point shooting is a reasonable cause for concern so far, as the team currently ranks 24th in team three-point percentage.
New additions Josh Richardson and Al Horford have occasionally hit some big outside shots but have not been very consistent in that regard. Tobias Harris, who is by far the team’s best shooter, continues to be somewhat streaky from deep, and the only reliable shooting threat off the bench is still Mike Scott.
The team has found ways to win despite the lack of shooting, but it does feel like at some point the Sixers may need to look for a quality veteran shooter to add to the rotation.
